A Teacher to the World... a STAR to her Students

Everyone would have had some interesting stories in their childhood. Few might have been very playful just letting loose from school. Few would have been very obedient in their academics always aspired to receive pat on the back from teachers. Rest others like me who hated to go to the school would have annoyed their parents as well as class teachers by crying and pounding on the floors!!

Just like how in all the movies, when someone falls into the trouble a super hero comes for the rescue, I too had a super woman at that moment who came in for rescue and frequently reassured that everything will be fine with all soothing and pampering words giving a peck on my cheek. Those words boosted the confidence inside me and her ever smiling face became the reason for attending the classes regularly till the end of my seventh standard days.

The one who was always unique with way of teaching, the one who always enjoyed sharing the knowledge, the one who always took care of students like a mother, the one who poured in abundant love and the one who always encouraged students in every phases is none other than our beloved teacher Mrs. Revathi N Madhyastha of Sri Shambhavi Vidyadayini Higher Primary School, Kota.

Through “Ashwini Madhyastha Smaraka Kendra” founded by her husband Mr. M Narasimha Madhyastha an ex-headmaster of SSV School, couple always tried engaging the students in all the extra-curricular activities during the summer vacation, of course for free of cost. The students of all the nearby schools were also invited to take part in. Many drama books were published based on the popular historical legendary like Kavirathna Kalidasa, Pururava and Mahakavi Bhasa. The teachers of surrounding schools were also asked to train students both on acting and voice modulation techniques. There were several options opened for the students to choose which course they wanted to enroll in. The art and drawing session included various paper craft works like making colorful paper lanterns, paper flowers and water color paintings.  The syllabus like English Speaking Course mainly focused on improving the students’ vocabulary and speaking ability.

Mr. M Narasimha Madhyastha and Mrs. Revathi N Madhyastha are always emerged as cheerful teachers constantly advocating the students to involve in science model exhibitions and to participate in district and state level science exams called – “Putani Vignana”. Mr. Madhyastha sir used to take special classes after school to educate the students on diverse science tricks.

Mr. Madhyastha sir is also famous for instructing the students on Yakshagana dance form which is a usual dance drama trendy in the coastal district of Karnataka. He has been rewarded by many registered centers, few to be named like Yakshagana Kala Kendra – Hangarakatte , Airodi etc for his extra ordinary magnetized qualities.

One can never forget primary school’s annual day functions. There used to be many cultural activities exhibited by our school students. Prayer, dance, drama, singing followed by Yakshagana. Mrs. Revathi teacher used to be the in charge of dance and singing sections. Right from the nursery kids up to the seventh standard students, she used to be the main dance instructor. No matter whichever types of dance form it is – the classical/folk/Tamki/Kolata every year she had different steps to introduce. I have never ever seen her in angry mood even when she had to start teaching the dance moves from the beginning when students used to stand blank! I wonder how she has gained such a robust patience!

Recently SSV School bid a farewell with a heavy heart wishing rich health, happy and peaceful days in her retirement. When everything was inline, destiny had drafted its own plan!

October 28th, Friday turned up as a doomsday not only for her family members, but also for all the students of SSV School, Kota. The most painful goodbyes are the ones that are left unsaid and never explained. Sadly our Revathi teacher’s adieu was also left unspoken! However death ends a life, but not a relationship. Being the students of Mrs. Revathi teacher definitely would continue the great virtues she has set. The impartial eye of her – treating everyone with equal love and respect regardless of bright or dull, rich or poor always separated her from others.

I would like to pay my tribute to Mrs. Revathi teacher with heartfelt condolences. I thank her through this note for all the guidance and affections rendered. May the almighty give strength to all her family members to bear this unbearable loss. As REVATHI itself is a name of star, may she also continue to shine in this infinite universe and navigate millions of more other souls on the Earth.
